Text Box: CAPTAIN’S RAMBLINGS
FEBRUARY 2010

Well, here goes another month on the job. Someone asked me if I was going golfing. To which I responded “No! I got rid of my boat.” I know we need the rain but cabin fever begins to creep in soon if you can’t go do what you enjoy.
January gave us a couple of weeks of so-so Golf weather but seems only a handful of the ladies took advantage of it. Then the rain started and opportunity washed down the gutter. Despite the weather, the course remains in great shape.
January results for Wednesday play is as follows:
January 6- Own pairings:-Best Nine
1st flight – Low Gross – Tie: Codie Powers – 45
			              Kellie Froome - 45
2nd flight – Low Net – Sherry Morris
January 13- Meeting day-Low Gross/Low Net Medalist Play
	Low Gross – Bev Gillaspy – 97
Low Net – Tie: Sherry Morris – 84
			   Maureen Gonczeruk - 84
January 20- No Game
January 27- Own Pairings-Throw Out Three Holes
	Low Gross – Loretha Harrah – 79
	Low Net – Irene Winter – 57

ACE OF THE MONTH - January 2010
	Sherry Morris - 158

I’d like to wish Happy Birthday to Jennie Owens and Peggy McDannold – February 8, Evelyn Conant and Juanita Wiersbicki – February11, Lois Schmidt and Daina Cowan – February 21, Mary Sakuma – February 23, Melodi Byrne and Monica Powers – February 28. A lot of doubles this month which made it easy to list the days. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Don’t worry about getting older. You are just getting better.
This month looks like it may hold some better weather (or not). I’ve come to realize, the Weatherman doesn’t know anymore than we do. He’s just guessing. Sometimes I think my Grandmother’s knees did a better job of predicting what the days were going to bring.
Wednesday play for the 3rd is Own Pairings, so get out there and find a team. There are plenty of girls that would like to golf if we would beak out and look for new people to join us. Never know when a great golfer and friend might be found. Speaking of Lady Golfers, don’t forget to pick up your new roster in the Pro Shop. And say a big Thank You to Joan Christ for all her work.
The Club is putting on a golf tournament (9 holes) for Valentine’s Day. So grab your honey and come out and play and have a romantic dinner at the Club. We all know the good food that the kitchen staff puts out.
The meeting will be on February 10 at 9 am and weather permitting we will be playing Medalist Play. Come out and support your Ladies Club. On the 17th, there is a WGNCA meeting at Sunset Whitney that a few women will be going to but for the rest of you it will be Mixed Pairings. For the new girls, you find someone to pair with and sign up at the Pro Shop. Our own Roman will make the foursomes and tee times. Lots of fun and you get to meet some new players.
The last Wednesday is our first Reciprocal Day. The sign-up sheet is in the Ladies Lounge and our own Sherry Morris and Loretha Harrah did a good job of advertising. It sounds like a lot of fun. So grab a Wilcox partner and two guests and come out for a day of fun and a good lunch afterward,
By the way, Beth Pilger is the Wednesday chair, so if you are going to participate in the Wednesday Play make sure you have your money in before you leave the clubhouse so she can get it put away quickly. Also the Green Books from WGANC are in so please pick one up in the ladies lounge.
I hope by this time Pat Martin, Mary Jones, Peggy McDannold and Bev Zumalt are on the path to healing.  You are missed.
Well I think I’ve rambled enough (They don’t call me Ramblin’ Rose for no reason).
Quote this month attributed to Lynn Swain: After I play a round of Golf, I go home and take a shower, change my clothes, put on my 4 Super Bowl rings and tell myself “I am an athlete!”
See you on the Tee,
Rosie Clift, Captain
